Is Selena Gomez a 'Bad Liar' about the Weeknd?
Selena Gomez and the Talking Heads, together at last.
Gomez shared her new single Bad Liar on Thursday morning, borrowing the bassline from the Talking Heads' 1977 classic Psycho Killer for the cheeky spoken-sung track.
Whether that beau is Gomez' real-life boyfriend The Weeknd, she's not saying, with Bad Liar songwriter Justin Tranter telling Variety that the song pays tribute to young love.
“The lyrics are really cool and descriptive about when you first start having feelings for someone, but don’t want to admit it, which turns you into a Bad Liar," he said.As for her Talking Heads tribute, Tranter confirmed that bandleader David Byrne gave the track his blessing.
“Selena and (Bad Liar co-writer) Julia Michaels are Talking Heads-obsessed," he said.
