Monaco's eighth Ligue 1 title was all the more special as it was against the odds, according to the club's coach Leonardo Jardim believes Monaco's first Ligue 1 title since 2000 was even more special as they were not favourites to claim the crown.

Paris Saint-Germain had won four successive Ligue 1 trophies but the French champions were deposed by Jardim's men after a 2-0 victory over Saint-Etienne at Stade Louis II on Wednesday.

Monaco are champions, this is worth four titles for Paris."

Winning the Ligue 1 title for the eighth time caps a stunning rise for Monaco, who were playing in France's second tier five seasons ago.
