Rumor Central: Nats, Rays interested in Justin Wilson?
The Washington Nationals and Tampa Bay Rays are reportedly interested in Detroit Tigers closer Justin Wilson.According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Nats have a continuing interest in Wilson and would like to add a reliever, possibly a starter, as well. Morosi notes that the Nationals still have their top five pitching prospects available after yesterday's deal that sent Blake Treinen to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson.A surprise contender at the trade deadline, the Rays "have expressed legit interest" in Wilson, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Topkin tweets that there's "some traction" in discussions between Tampa Bay and Detroit. The Rays are also discussing Pirates left-hander Tony Watson, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.Wilson, 29, has been a steady hand in the Tigers' shaky bullpen this season, posting a 2.29 ERA, 0.91 WHIP in 37 appearances and striking out 50 batters in 35 1/3 innings.
