Sevilla gatecrashed the Anfield party as late striker from Joaquin Correa prevented Jurgen Klopp's side from claiming a winning return to the Champions League group stages.

The visitors silenced Anfield within five minutes as Wissam Ben Yedder ghosted into the six-yard box to tap home Sergio Escudero's low cross after Dejan Lovren failed to deal with the danger.

The game was turned on its head after 37 minutes, when Mohamed Salah dispossessed Steven Nzonzi on the edge of the Sevilla box and firing home via a wicked deflection off Simon Kjaer.

Jurgen Klopp's men had the chance to pull further clear before the break, but Firmino crashed a penalty off the post after Sadio Mane had been brought down by Nicolas Pareja.

Despite their dominance the hosts failed to build on their lead and were punished when Joaquin Correa curled home from inside the area after the visitors made the most of a quick throw in.
